I do not have problems reaching london with other area codes- just the 845 one. I'm trying to call a number in london with an 845 # and it won't go through. I thought it was just that particular #, but then I had to call another # which also happened to have the 845 area code and Same problem there too. I'm making the calls from the US. I dial 011-44-845- the restWhat is the london 845 area code for?
that's probably because (0)845 is not a geographical area code - in the UK all phone numbers beginning 08 are "business rate services". 0845 numbers are national (and commercial) numbers which are charged as local numbers. Some may also be premium rate phone numbers and may be charged as such from abroad - see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0845#From_a鈥?/a>
Also the specific number you are trying to call might only work from within the UK.
I suggest trying their website (if they have one) to see if you can email them instead.
N.B. - the first answer to this question says that you should dial 00 44 845... but 00 is the code for dialling OUT of the UK - you are right to dial 011 44 845... as 011 is the code for dialling OUT of the USA.What is the london 845 area code for?
0845 is not an area code
have a look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0845_number
the comments on this page about calls from abroad might explain why you're having difficultiesWhat is the london 845 area code for?
you have to dial 0044 845.
It not a local number but a national one, like a business or something.

What are houston's area codes?
what are the area codes for north houstonWhat are houston's area codes?
713, 281
Locations within the Houston city limits inside Beltway 8 had traditionally used the 713 area code. Those outside Beltway 8 but within city limits had received the 281 or 832 area code. The geographic division between 713, 281, and 832 has been eliminated, and newly-issued phone numbers (especially for cell phones and fax machines) within that zone may be assigned any of the three codes. Areas far north, west, east and south of the inner-city also use 936 and 409. Zip codes in Houston range from 77002 to 77099. A small portion of northeast Houston uses zip codes 77339 and 77345.What are houston's area codes?

ABOUT AREA CODEs...what do you think?
ABOUT AREA CODE
We actually received a call last week from the 809 area code. The woman said "Hey, this is Karen. Sorry I missed you--get back to us quickly. I Have something important to tell you." Then she repeated a phone number beginning with 809 . "We didn't respond".
Then this week, we received the following e-mail:
Subject: DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809 , 284 AND 876
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY AT%26amp;T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE 809
This one is being distributed all over the US . This is pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get you to call.
Be sure you read this and pass it on.
They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.
In each case, you are told to call the 809 number right away. Since there are so many new area codes these days, people unknowingly return these calls.
If you call from the US , you will apparently be charged $2425 per-minute.
Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase the charges. Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24, 100.00.
WHY IT WORKS:
The 809 area code is located in the British Virgin Islands (The Bahamas).
The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.
Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam

With Verizon Wireless, are you allowed to pick the area code?
So my boyfriend and I are living in the Caymans and are flying to Tampa tomorrow. We're going to stay there a week, and then go to Denver. what we want to do is get phones while we're in Tampa, but for them to have Denver area codes. Will Verizon do this? With Verizon Wireless, are you allowed to pick the area code?
No, whatever place you buy them in, that is the area code you have to have...sorry.With Verizon Wireless, are you allowed to pick the area code?
You can request to change your phone # at any time as well as pick the area code by calling customer service. But if the reason is something besides you moving to that zip code there is a 15 fee for changing your number

Telephone area codes limit....?
Many within the telephone industry feel we will eventually run out of area codes and telephone numbers. How many different area codes are currently available? What would you suggest to increase the number of telephone numbers?Telephone area codes limit....?
the number of telephone numbers is increased everyday. Area codes are added, telephone numbers are added to go with it.
Its not about creating phone numbers, any one can do that. its about how much the switchboards can handle. They can only provision so many phone lines.
Here is a comprehensive list, there will be more added this year and next.

Different Area Codes?
Is it possible for someone to live in one area code, but have their cellphone number be in another area code. This friend of mine gave me their cellphone number couple weeks ago and when I looked up their house number it was a different area code. Both of the area codes are used there but it just seemed weird to me.Different Area Codes?

Of course!
My boss lives in North Carolina, but his cell has an Ohio area code. He moved to NC within the last couple years, and didn't want to change his number because it would require notifying numerous business contacts of the change.beauty

Area codes question?
can someone tell me common area codes for cellular phones in Russia? is 905 a common area code for a cell? can anyone find out...Area codes question?
Of course 905 is a mobile number in Russia but not only in Moscow, but in other cities. These codes are called federal codes, i.e. for all territories.
You might be wondering what this business with Toronto is?
I guess those people don't make many international phonecalls :). But to call Toronto you would dial +1 905, to call Russia mobile you would dial +7 905. I won't be too surprised if you find some 905 codes in Africa or Asia too.

Area codes and zip codes?
Hi,
Is there any order to zip code distribution across the US? What about area codes?
Thanks!Area codes and zip codes?
yes there is a loose system to zip codes you can find out more
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_code#By鈥?/a>
ZIP codes are arranged geographically, starting with 0- ZIPs in the Northeast and proceeding down the East coast then back up the states between the Mississippi and the Appalachians then back down the central states, up through the Mountain states and up the west coast. The idea about ZIP codes is that you should be able to tell fairly easily about where in the country the place is.
With area codes, on the other hand, they want it to be difficult to dial incorrectly, so they purposefully make adjacent area codes quite different and there is no particular order to the distribution.Area codes and zip codes?
Yes there is.
For ZIP codes, the first digit designates a broad geographical area of the United States, ranging from zero for the Northeast to nine for the far West. The next two digits come from designations of large population concentrations within the regions and the final two digits designate small post offices or postal zones in larger zoned cities.
Area codes were created in 1947 and assigned to areas that were delineated based on their relative population. The actual numbers assigned were based (more or less) on the relative ease of dialing the number on a rotary dial phone. "Important" places got easy, quick numbers.
That's why Washington DC was assigned 202 and New York 212 while Missouri was originally 816.Area codes and zip codes?
The answer about Area codes is correct, but the reason actually has a practical purpose as well. The switched used to be rotary as well. When a highly populated area had its number assigned (not necessarily) important it was based on the wear expected on the mechanical switch.

Mobile phone area codes in Australia?
Someone has been calling me and hanging up as soon as i answer. I do not know who they are or where they are from. Is there a way i can find out where they are from using their mobile number? if i can work out where they are from i might know who it is.Mobile phone area codes in Australia?
Australian mobile numbers are recognised internationally as:
+614XX XXX XXX
So basically, the 0 in front is dropped and replaced by +61.Mobile phone area codes in Australia?
Unless it is an International call there are no area codes for mobiles. My advice is to go to the police, they can track the number find out what network its on and who owns it. This is a type of harassment and you don't have to stand for it.

Area Codes--IMPORTANT!!!!?
This one is being distributed all over the US This is pretty scary,
especially given the way they try to get you to call.
Unfortunately, when you get your phone bill, you'll often be charged more than $24,100.00.
WHY IT WORKS:
The 809 area code is located in theBritish Virgin Islands (The Bahamas).
The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. That's because you did actually make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign
company. You'll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.
Please forward this entire message to your friends, family and colleagues to help them become aware of this scam

Why do different places have diferent area codes?
for like the phone number..?Why do different places have diferent area codes?
Because
the more people
that have phone numbers
the more unique numbers
you will need to cover all of them.
SO people don't end up with the same phone number, plus phone calls have right place. Or peolpe would never get the place! Why do different places have diferent area codes?
So they will be different. You wouldn't want to share a line with someone... Ever see an I Love Lucy or other 50's television show? Hehe.. It was common to share a line with someone during that time in the United States. Why do different places have diferent area codes?
To state it simply, there would not be enough numbers available for all of the telephones in the world with only seven digits in a telephone number. Area Codes increase the number of numbers available by a thousand times over seven digit numbers.
Use your head.
The reason is simple.
Due to the high demand for phones.
Before everyone had phones... they just had the simple seven digit number.
However, more and more people wanted and bought phones.
Well eventually... they ran out of numbers to give to people.
I know what your saying.. 111-111 to 999-999 is ALOT of numbers.
But half of those numbers cant be used. For example: you cant begin any phone number with 911 because you would go straight to the police. And cities with 311 as a city help line (like chicago) you cant use any numbers beginning with 311 for that reason.
So in order to give more numbers Area Codes were installed
So now the same number might be in 2 seperate cities of the same state, or two diffrent states.
312-744-1752 CHICAGO- south
773-774-1752 Chicago -north
630-774-1752 - Wisconsin
Hope this helps :)
Just to make money. Also controls system overload
they have to divide the area code if the area is too large for one place. like texas 915 was divide to 6 different area codes now.
to distinguish them

If I use a landline phone and call a cellphone with the same area code but in another state, long distance?
I've been talking to a friend who is on vacation in Texas on her cell phone, we have the same area codes and I don't have to dial out, with the 1 and then the area code, I just dial her cell phone number. Is this still long distance? How is that determined? If I use a landline phone and call a cellphone with the same area code but in another state, long distance?
Long distance in this case is determined by the phone number. Since your calling a local number no matter where it is, your not going to be paying long distance.
If she has a nation plan then shes not paying roaming, its a win win situation! If I use a landline phone and call a cellphone with the same area code but in another state, long distance?
No it's not long distance. If you friend has a plan with no roaming charges, then it's a win win for both of you!make up advice

Cell phone area codes?
Is it possible for somebody with a specific area code on their cell phone, be living somewhere else? Or be living in a certain area and get a cellphone with a different area code?
What I'm trying to say, are cell phone area codes "fixated"?Cell phone area codes?
Due to number portability laws, someone may register a phone number (even a land-line number), and then carry that number over from company to company for cell service, regardless of the current location of residence.
As far as finding out who the cell carrier for a specific number is, there is no standard way to do this if it is not your number. You may get lucky by dialing the number and getting a message like "The ______ customer you have dialed is not available. . ."Cell phone area codes?
With a cell phone you can have a certain area code and live somewhere else, example have a california # and live in Texas, the only thing is where ever your at anyone calling your cell phone with their land line will either get billed long distance or if they do not have long distance will not be able to call you. In order to get a certain area code you have to open the cell phone account in that area before you move area codes depend in the market you live in. The way you can tell wich cell phone company the phone is from is phone should say name on outside or when turn phone off and on will display name.Cell phone area codes?
i have a 651 area code which is st paul MN and live in the 507 part of southern minnesota......... reception sucks really bad. when i got mine from t-mobile. i lived in minneapolis,mn which is 612- if i live in an area that has a few different area codes then you would have a choice.....I did anyway.

Caller ID won't display area codes. How do I make it display area codes? (please read details)?
This is just a cheap phone with caller ID. I have looked in menu, and I can't find anything that looks like it needs to be changed, and the package literature isn't helping me here.
Any thoughts?Caller ID won't display area codes. How do I make it display area codes? (please read details)?
All of the telephones that I've had throughout the years that have Caller ID capability and do not display an area code are because the phone call is a local call.

Does anyone know how is the numbers for area codes is determined?
For the longest time, area codes all had a zero or one for the middle number. With the explosion of fax machines, Cell phones etc, they've had to invent many new codes with all sorts of middle numbers. Here is a really good explanation of the rest of the story...

If I'm in a 716 area code, would a 914 and 443 area code be national?
My phone bill is under Verizon. We have a national plan where we can text nationally. My mom has been complaining about my phone bill being high. I have two different friends that I text. One is in a 914 area code, Westchester. The other is in a 443 area code, Maryland. Are these two places national? Can I text them? Or are those two area codes the reason the bill is high? Please help. Thanks! If I'm in a 716 area code, would a 914 and 443 area code be national?

I would like my family to love God and keep his commandments, to abide by the principles of purity, to love to impart them to their children by practice, by teaching and by example and by every means by which children can be influenced by their parents. Then, if this were carried out in every family, there would be something in the tendency of our lives that would have a regenerating influence upon the rising generation, physically and mentally.

Logic, Sets, and Counting Techniques (telephone area codes)?
Telephone area codes in the U.S. consists of 3 digits (MD 301, VA 703, DC 202) First digit in the area code was from 2 to 9, the second was either 0 or 1, and the third could be any digit except 0.
a) according to these rules, how many different area codes began with the digit 3?
b) how many different area codes ended with the digit 2?
c)how many differnet area codes are possible?
If the rules changed to, the first digit in the area code is from 2 to 9, the second digit is from 0 to 8, the third digit is from 0 to 9
d)according to the new rule, how many different area codes can begin with the digit 3?
e)how many different area codes are now possible?Logic, Sets, and Counting Techniques (telephone area codes)?
The General Counting Principle states that if different trials can be done in a certain number of ways each time, then the number of possible outcomes is found by multiplying the number of possibilities for each trial.
a) There are
1 way for the first digit (3)
2 ways for the second (0 or 1)
9 ways for the third (1-9)
So in total 1*2*9 = 18 ways.
b) There are
8 ways for the first digit (2-9)
2 ways for the second (0 or 1)
1 way fo the third (2)
In total 8*2*1 = 16 ways.
c) There are
8 ways for the first
2 for the second
9 for the third.
8*2*9 = 144 ways.
d) There are
1 way for the first (3)
9 ways for the second (0-8)
10 for the third (0-9)
1*9*10 = 90 ways.
e) There are
8 ways for the first (2-9)

10 for the third (0-9)
8*9*10 = 720 ways.

Statistics question - area codes?
I am trying to solve the following statistics question:
I am looking for three-digit area codes with 1 or 0 in the second digit. Exclude codes ending in 00 or 11 and codes beginning with 0 or 1. How many area codes are possible under these conditions?
Please help me by explaining, because if you just tell me the answer, I can't learn how to solve it. Actually, I know the answer, but not how to get there.
Thanks in advance for your help.Statistics question - area codes?
you have 8 possible numbers for the first digit, because you can't have 1 or 0
you only have 2 possible numbers for the second digit, because you can only have 0 or 1
you only have 9 possible numbers for the third digit, b/c you can't end in 00 or 11, so if you are using 0 for the second digit, you can use any digit but 0, likewise, if you are using 1 for the second digit, you can use any digit but 1...
therefore,
the answer is
8 x 2 x 9 = 144Statistics question - area codes?
The first digit has 8 possibilities which are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
On the second digit, there are 2 kinds of possibilities.
Number 1 - Second digit is 0 or 1, if it's like this the third digit has only 9 possibilities (can't be the same as second digit). For this, there are 8 * 2 * 9 = 144 possibilities.
Number 2 - Second digit is not 0 or 1 so third digit has 10 possibilities (it doesn't matter what number it is). For this there are 8 * 8 * 10 = 640 possibilities.
Therefore there are 640 + 144 = 784 possibilities.eye look

Why did he put two area codes? or is it just part of the number?
So my new boyfriend of just today (congratulate me people!! haha) gave me his cell phone number yesterday. I live in Chicago, IL and those of you who live there too should know that there are 2 are codes (773) and (312). my boyfriend put BOTH of them. so it's like this (not going to put his whole number) : 773-312-***-****
so yea.....those are either two area codes, or just a long number? any help?? and i can't ask him...its the weekend and i wanna text himWhy did he put two area codes? or is it just part of the number?
call 773-***-**** first
and then try 312-***-*** second see which on it is.
its a little odd though that he put both. Why did he put two area codes? or is it just part of the number?
Um, he probably didnt know which so threw them both in there, text the whole number, then text the others individually and see to which he answers. and if he gets them all just say a phone mistake ;)

If you have the same area code, do long distance rates apply?
Say Im calling from Ottawa to Hawkesbury. Both have the same area codes, but when I dial i get a recording that says "This is a long distance call. Please try again and dial one before the number" or something of that sort.
Hawkesbury is in Quebec, right in the next province.
Do I have to pay more ?If you have the same area code, do long distance rates apply?
same area cod can be long distance. I live in St. Catharines and I call another 905 number and it can cost me sometimes. It's by distance not area code. If you get that recording then it is long distance.
If a recording came on and said that you have to dial 1 in front of your number then yes it is long distance and yes it will cost something. It all depends on what sort of LD plan you have to the rate that you will be charged and how long you talked. so yes you will have to pay moreIf you have the same area code, do long distance rates apply?
Ottawa to/from Hawkesbury is long distance and other areas in the 613 area code. Belleville, Kingston %26amp; Cornwall all have the same 613 area code and from/to Ottawa will be long distance. And although Hawksbury is in another province Quebec it doesn't have the Quebec area code of 819If you have the same area code, do long distance rates apply?
If you must dial 1 before the area code, it is a long distance call even if you are calling within the same area code. The rate will depend on whatever long distance plan you have.

Is there some kind of listing that cell phones are given with a 253 area code that is not in Washington?
I have been given a number before from someone online that was odd because this person was supposed to be in New Mexico but the area code was for Washington. Just the other day I got a call from I suspect someone else I had been talking to. This person was supposed to be in Texas. Area code 253. Is there something different with cell phones and area codes or is it all the same?Is there some kind of listing that cell phones are given with a 253 area code that is not in Washington?
A couple of things could be happening.
1. You're being lied to.
2. These people used to live in Washington and kept their cell phone numbers. This would especially be true if they are in the military, because 253 is the area code that our big army/air force base is in. Area codes don't seem to matter with cell phones, so many people keep them when they move. I have some friends whose cell phones are California area codes even though they've lived in Washington for years.

Is it necessary to dial a 1 before the area code and then the telephone number?
Does the 1 apply to all area codes??Is it necessary to dial a 1 before the area code and then the telephone number?
If you're dialing outside of your area code (or if the area you're in has an "overlay" area code) then you have to dial "1"+area code+telephone.
unless it's in the same area code as you, you have to dial 1Is it necessary to dial a 1 before the area code and then the telephone number?
not for local calls...
for example, NYC is covered by 718 212 646 347 917
because such a small area is covered by multiple area codes, it is mandatory that you dial the full 10 digit number, but when calling within the same area code, you do not need to dial the 1 before the number...
EX: calling 718-555-1212 from 718-555-1234 would not require dialing the 1 first, but dialing 212-555-1212 from 718-555-1234 would require the 1 first...
if you are not sure, you can always dial with out the 1, if you get an error message, then try dialing with the 1...Is it necessary to dial a 1 before the area code and then the telephone number?
yes..except if you are calling internationally you usually start of with a 3 digit country code like 012.

Does using a country code in a mainland UK phone number affect the '0' on an area code?
I've been asked to supply my phone number with country and area codes. I know the UK country code is 44, but does this remove the 0 off of the front of my area code (which is 5 digits long and starts with an 0) like it does with the start of mobile numbers or does it remain?
Essentially, would it be...
44 0XXXX XXXXXX
or
44 XXXX XXXXXX
ThanksDoes using a country code in a mainland UK phone number affect the '0' on an area code?
Yes, you would remove the leading 0, which is not part of the area code. +44 XXXX XXXXXX is correct.

Why do cell phone users with the Rogers network have a different area code?
All area codes where I live are 604. Rogers cell phone network users have the area code 778.Why do cell phone users with the Rogers network have a different area code?
We recently had to do this in southern ontario. A new area code had to be created. However, it wasn't restricted to just Rogers.
I work for Rogers, and as far as I know, there are no area codes restricted to just one cell phone company.
It's the CRTC that regulates the release of area codes, not the providers.

Area codes from belfast and dublin?
If I lived in Belfast, would I need to put the area code in for Dublin to call there or text? From mobile to mobile? Thanks (-:Area codes from belfast and dublin?
From mobile press +353 then drop the 0 and type then just the rest of the number so should be
+353 87 1234567
Area codes from belfast and dublin?
You need the Irish international code 00 353 followed by the rest of the mobile number, but omitting the first 0 of 087, 086 etc.
It doesn't work in reverse. For UK, from Ireland, we have to dial 0044 plus the rest of the number including area code, but to ring Belfast or any other part of N. Ireland from Irish Republic, we have a special code 048. But phoning N. Ireland from UK is 028.
Area codes from belfast and dublin?
yes. Belfast is in the UK, so has Uk dialling codes. Dublin being in ROI, you would need to put in the international dialing code 00353 then 8 (3,5,6,or 7)

yes. Belfast is in the UK, so has Uk dialling codes. Dublin being in ROI, you would need to put in the international dialing code 00353 then 8 (3,5,6,or 7)

Jersey City and Parsippany would almost certainly be considered long-distance.
**Not all 908 area code exchanges will be "local"....many 908 numbers will be long-distance!!**
Local exchanges to Raritan probably involve places like Bound Brook, Somerville, and Bridgewater. Possibly also Manville, and Plainfield.
You can call verizon for more details about Raritan NJ and it's local exchanges by calling 1-800-VERIZON (1 800-837-4966)
If you want unlimited long-distance, then get Verizon FIOS, which will allow for this.A Friend Moving to Raritan, NJ.. need help on telephone area codes?

Where can I look to find out laws and codes in my local area?
Is there a good website I can look at to learn about the laws in my county, like curfew laws etc?Where can I look to find out laws and codes in my local area?
Some places have their City Code online, others don't. You can call your City or Township hall, and find out if theirs does. Or find the governental website for your area; they should have a link there. Or, if you want to just call your local police or sheriff they can tell you right over the phone about curfew laws, I am sure.
Try the library and ask for your states Criminal Code book. It's a revised book every year which breaks down laws. In Minnesota for example, our traffic laws are under chapter 169 and our criminal codes are under 609.
Curfew is typically a city ordnance, not a law or county ordnance. Again, every state is different. If you choose not to use the library, call the sheriff's office in the county you live in and they can direct you.Where can I look to find out laws and codes in my local area?

Is there an advantage to having a non-local area code?
I'm about to get a new phone in NY, and I'm also considering switching up my number. However, I go to school in New Orleans, and I've heard that local area codes had trouble dialing out in the post-hurricane mayhem. I don't know why that would be true, so if anyone could just tell me what would be different if I had a New York area code, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Is there an advantage to having a non-local area code?
Most people with a 504 area code had problems for about three months after Katrina because the telephone company main office building flooded and all of the switching equipment was in the basement. However, that was almost 5 years ago.
Most cellular programs now don't charge extra to call "long distance", so keeping your NY number won't be that big of an issue. If your NY family/friends might be calling you from phones that do charge extra for long distance it may be a lot better for them if you keep the NY number.

What does it mean if a guy says he has ho's in different area codes?
What would you make of that? Does that mean he owns tractor and supply stores across the country? If so, I want to get with him, he probably has alot of money. What does it mean if a guy says he has ho's in different area codes?

Yes, that is exactly what I mean.

Why my vtech 6229-2 model phone won't dail to certain area codes?
I have a cordless vtech 6229-2 model phone..which works perfectly except it won't dial out certain area codes...I can dial 773/ or 847/ but when I try 312/ or 269/.....it doesn't even dial...there's a long silence and then a recorded message about "if you want to make a call hang up and dial again..blah blah blah....any ideas? thanksWhy my vtech 6229-2 model phone won't dail to certain area codes?
do you have a long distance carrier? the first 3 area codes are in the same state... but perhaps the 312 is long distance for you to call... the last area code is in MI which likely will incur long distance charges...
when calling long distance, or outside of your home area code you need to dial 1 before the area code...
have you tried with a different phone, perhaps the touch tones are not being sent properly with your phone?
i would check with a different phone, and if the trouble continues then you need to call your long distance provider to find out what the problem is...
in the mean time you can use 1800 980PHAD for free 10 minute calls within the US, or 1800 FREE 411 and say "free call" at the main menu for free 5 minute calls anywhere internationally....Why my vtech 6229-2 model phone won't dail to certain area codes?
To check if you have a long distance carrier, dial 1-700-555-4141...You should be able to dial any area code if you have a long distance carrier...

What google voice area code should I use?
I'd like whatever number I pick to be one I can keep long term. I haven't lived near my family in years, so that area code wouldn't make any sense for me. I am definitely moving from the area I currently live in, but I don't know where I will be moving too. It is most likely (but not definite) I will move to south Florida, so I considered picking up an area code from that region. It's all up in the air. Are there any "neutral" area codes? What google voice area code should I use?

How often do area codes change?
In the USHow often do area codes change?
My experience is that they add new area codes when they are close to running out of numbers. Sometimes, when they add the new area code, things get changed around. In the state I live in, the area codes have been slightly rearranged every time one is added. It hasnt really changed my area code at this point, but I know someone who's number changed with every area code addition.
I the area I grew up in, they are getting to a point where they need to add another one soon (over the next couple of years). I believe what they are talking about doing is adding an overlapped layer with a new area code. How often do area codes change?
Lmao area codes don't change if they change it would be like taking out all the stop lights in the world.
area codes once they are aprooved they stay for ever, they make new ones though that's for sure but never removed, because area codes have so much info do you have any idea all the proccess they have to go to? it would take like 4 or 7 years to sort information again.

Do Cell Phone area codes matter?
My girlfriend's mom is having trouble with dropped calls on her cell phone, she has a Florida area code and lives in California. My girlfriend and I live here in Texas, and I know that my family has always had problems with area codes on cell phones here. My brother moved from Midland (West Texas) to College Station (East Texas) and his phone barely worked when he had a Midland area code, but after talking to the Cingular people they advised him to change to a College Station area code and it helped out 100% with his phone.
We've been trying to get her to switch but she refuses to listen. Does anyone have any information on this topic? If so could you provide some references if possible to where you found it?
Thanks!Do Cell Phone area codes matter?

Text/calls from out of the USA but have area codes that are USA?!?
So my friend is currently in Belize . He wants to call me but I don't want to get charged for international calling. His area code is a USA area code. So if he called would I get charged because he's in Belize right now?Text/calls from out of the USA but have area codes that are USA?!?
If your friend's using something like Magic Jack or some other form of internet telephone which has a US area code, I believe you won't get charged since his/her number acts as if it's in the US.

Why U.S. telephone area codes are not in geographical order?
I am wondering why U.S. telephone area codes are not in geographical order. for eg: 213 is in California, 214 is in Texas, 215 is in Pennsylvania. I know some codes are created recently after the old ones ran out of numbers. But still as a whole the whole number system is not in any chronological order (geography). The national highway system is in longitude/latitude order thoughWhy U.S. telephone area codes are not in geographical order?
geographical growth wasn't phycicly figured out when the sytem was devised....
if you think the highways are in any sort of order, (not just odds go north and south and evens go east and west), how about US1 being right next to I95 but I76 is out west?

When did we start using zip codes? Area codes?
Using area codes to help efficiently sort post was introduced in 1943. However, by the
1950's a more specific and detailed guide was needed. This is when the United States Postal Service began using the ZIP code (ZIP meaning Zone Improvement Plan).
It was first thought of by postal inspector Robert Moon - he submitted the proposal for a ZIP code in 1944. However, his idea was largely ignored until the 1960's. The ZIP code began to be used widely in 1963.When did we start using zip codes? Area codes?
In addition to what Milson Bartleby said above, I'll point out that, in an effort to increase efficiency, the U.S. Postal Service began using the "ZIP + four" system in 1983. In that, the ZIP code still signifies a certain geographical area, but the four-digit add-on code breaks it down even further to designate a SPECIFIC section of that area; for example, it could signify a city block, a row of apartments, or others such as that. As I've learned from my OWN mail, if the recipient has a post office box, the add-on code is usually the last four digits of that box number; if the box has only THREE digits, then the add-on code is 0 plus the box number. When did we start using zip codes? Area codes?
In Britain it was in the 1980s. London has had postal codes since Victorian times.

What Florida area code is considered to be more "posh" than others?
I am moving to Florida soon and will be changing my cell phone number. My question is if there is an area code that is considered more "posh" than other area codes down there - based on location, demographics, etc. This is similar to how the 310 area code in California is considered to be more "posh" than others. What is the Florida equivalent, if there is one? What Florida area code is considered to be more "posh" than others?
Some richest areas in Florida:
Coral Gables
Pinecrest
Bal Harbour
Jupiter
Boca Raton
Palm Beach
Not much Latinos in the some of the richest areas. Many are gated communities, more exclusive than inclusive.
Latinos are mostly in the the south, especially Miami.
Florida is more JLO than Posh. Any of the Miami area codes are JLO. If you're a white girl, I'd stick to the old white people retirement areas. Florida is really for Latinos. Its skin cancer rates are so high because white people move down there that aren't meant for the climate. At any rate, all of Florida has a Latino flair so you should keep that in mind. What Florida area code is considered to be more "posh" than others?

And miami is not the only "latino' flair city either.. orlando has a huge latino population and so does tampa area as well as some of the cities in south florida (port st lucie palm beach areas).......... there arent that many latinos in jacksonville. I would say that atlanta has more than

What kind of system was used in determining and assigning zip codes to each area of the US?
i'm just curious because obviously they didn't just say ok this are is 1 and this one is 2 and so on.. so how did they derrive the numbers for each area? was there some kind of system? What kind of system was used in determining and assigning zip codes to each area of the US?
It's geographical from East to West. You'll notice that ZIP codes on the East coast are lower numbers than ZIP codes on the East Coast.

They both called me either very late during night or very early during morning, I'm just wondering if this is just a telemarketing scam.Weird 12-digits phone numbers, can someone tell me where they are calling from by the area codes?
The 81 calling code is Japan. 44 is the United Kingdom. Don't know if it's telemarketers or not but they're just overseas numbers.
Call your phone provider or operator to find out. They have access to all that. Maybe there is a way to block that.
Just general knowledge stuff: you can block long distance calling from your # by adding a password to yours so even someone at a pay phone can't charge it to you.Weird 12-digits phone numbers, can someone tell me where they are calling from by the area codes?
