How do area codes for cell phones change for people moving to different countries?

my friend is moving from england to the u.s, and they have a cell phone. if i want to call them do i still use the same number ( even the plus 44 at the starting?) or does it change? How do area codes for cell phones change for people moving to different countries?
Your friend can keep his phone if he has a tri or quad-band phone, but keeping the same number means he is going to have to pay international call charges every time he makes a call in the US, and people who call him are also going to have to pay international call charges. The only one who's going to do well out of this arrangement is your friend's friends and family members in the UK, who can call him without paying international call charges.

Therefore, he will have to get a new network and a new telephone number. The area codes for cellphones are sometimes different than those for landlines, depending on where you live. For example, my brother lives in Vegas and his cellphone number starts with 702, but my sister lives in Manhattan, and hers starts with 917 instead of 212.
