Is there a list for carriers area codes (cell phone)?

ive heard rumors that carriers use the same area codes.. for example if the first 3 digits of my cell phone where 404 i would have to be at%26amp;t unless i switched carriers.. anyways is there a list of all the area codes at%26amp;t uses, all the area codes t-mobile uses, etc.

~ thanks~Is there a list for carriers area codes (cell phone)?

Don S. is correct. Just to add, area codes are assigned by a regulating body (CRTC in Canada), not by phone companies.

Cell phones are not assigned separate area codes, what you may have been looking at was a list of at%26amp;t and t-mobile's service areas, by area code.Is there a list for carriers area codes (cell phone)?
Your area code has nothing to do with your carrier, it is based on location, land lines and cells of the same city use the same area code. The area code is the first 3 digits of your 10 digit phone number. Now in Canada we have 100% portability of cell #'s so you can keep the same number regardless of carrier, including the next 3 numbers which are the ones I think you are referring to. I was under the impresion this was to keep our compition rules similar to the American.
